Spring Has Sprung !

After a long Winter and early Spring, warmer weather and green grass have finally arrived at Sugar Plum Farm in Saratoga. All of our foals have been born and spend their days romping in the paddocks alongside their mothers. In fact, the beautiful weather seems to agree with everyone as horses (and humans) make the most of the warm days.

At the barn we shift from foaling babies to yearling prep, as we start preparing the young horses for our July farm sale. Yearlings are washed, groomed and walked daily to get them muscled up and looking their best. Of course, all the usual feeding, mucking and daily horse care still needs to be done, making for busy days for our staff. In addition, the grass is finally growing like crazy, and mowing and property maintenance is never-ending !

Off the farm, the Oklahoma Training Track has opened at Saratoga Race Course and it will soon be time for racing to begin. We’re told that COVID restrictions will be much more relaxed, and the Saratoga experience will be back to near normal.

See you at the races !
